Dear Sir:
I read your article on Photo City and my question is: are there places to rent studio lighting equipment at a reasonable price in Beijing.
I live in the San Francisco area and will be in a studio in Beijing from October through December.
Thank you

Dear Scott:
Is your studio in Beijing staffed? If so, they should know where to rent or borrow lighting. I personally have not rent any studio lighting in Beijing. But I am very sure that the Photo City studio lighting sellers are more than happy to rent their equipment to you at reasonable price (ask a few of them and you will find the market price in no time).
There are a few photo schools (for wedding photos) in the Photo city. If you can not find a rental, talk to the instructors from those photo schools (such as PengPeng, Blacklight, etc). They sure will know where to rent the studio lighting.
Good luck!

Dear Mark,
Thank you for the response. No the studio is no staffed. I will be on an artist in residency program at the Red Gate Gallery from October thru December. I will have a live work studio space near the Ben Giao exit on the airport road.
If you would care to meet for lunch or beer or? contact me at gebilwil@netscape.net or scott@dnasilicon.com. I am 90% sure that my cell phone number will be the same as when I was there in May: 13436665146 in Beijing.

I also am interested in technology contacts in Beijing. I have a PhD in EE and Solid State Phys. I spent a long time developing Si chip processes and then interfacing with technology companies around the world. I switched to art about 5 years ago, but am still very interested in hi tech, and would like to consult some if I could.
