I am now a NTRP 3.5 tennis player
About a year ago, during the Beijing Olmypic, I set up a goal to practice tennis. I was planning to reach NTRP 4.0 in a year, which is Aug, 2009.
For the past year, I have practiced at least 3 days a week and gone for private lesssons and training camps.
I have improved dramatically in terms of groundstorkes consistancy and footwork. I am now a NTRP 3.5 player.
I am now setting up my goal to reach NTRP 4.0 in about another year.

Hi Mark,
I watch your tennis play and found that you have discovered ‘love’ “fun” and “joy” , thus achieving the most important thing in your pursuit of athletic excellence besides your profession.
It is not difficult for you to attain even 5.0 with your good coordination.
Just surf into Total Tennis Training, and watch the tennis Maestro, Chuck Kriese, explain about the modern scientific tennis. Coach Kriese as we respectfully call him, was Cllemson U Head Coach for 33 years, he talks about Movement, Wardlaw Directionals, Momentum Point control.
Being an engineer ourself it is not difficult to appreciate the rotational forces engaged in tennis.
(If you read Jack Groppel’s tennis book he explained 1. Linear Momentum, 2. Circular Mo and 3. Ground Reaction force. All 3 are Newton principles.)
Paul Wardlaw, invented the Directional Shot Selection Strategies, is now in Duke U. Coach Kriese has left Clemson to go to Asia share his knowledge and produced a No.1 world Junior girl from Thailand, she won Wimbledon Singles and Doubles.
The thing is that you are not to be world champion, the essence is the method of achieving a higher level is easier, not easy, more scientific and make sense, biomechanically sound.
I was in Beijing from 5 to 20th october 2010, had I known you are so crazily in love with tennis I could have easily shared the knowledge with you. Coach told us to “GIVE IT BACK’. It is a law of reciprocity, Coach Kriese believes that we are to share what we learn from him, with people who are interested. I understudied under him in Bangkok for 3 weeks watching him training the No.1 Junior Girl .
It is a rare experience of “nirwana” , awesome to watch a maestro at work.
I again met Coach Kriese at North Carolina Aug. 2010, to accompany my friend’s son to attend his tennis camp. All for the love of tennis.
Anyway I live in Malaysia and I am sure you must be wondering why I am telling you all these. It is in the hope that your search for tennis is easier. Coach teaches how to compete not how to stroke. there are thousands of books tell you how to hit a ball. The whole essence is how to compete and use the Momentum to compete.
Bye, sincerely hope you enjoy your search for better tennis
