Farmer

After leaving YouGuShengTan Park, I headed back to Beijing. YouGuShengTan is located on the north of HuaiRou country along the National Road 111.

As I negotiated the shape turns on the mountain, I noticed the new construction of the National Road 111. The entire section is elevated from the ground and in certain places the tunnels are built through the mountains. It surely looks like a massive undertaking. But if Chinese is capable of building the

WeiZhongTian Restaurant

Located in the WangJing science park, WeiZhongTian Restaurant is a newly addition to the eat out place in the largest residential area in Asia (WangJing).

The restaurant serves mostly Guangdong and Jiangxi food. The restaurant is very popular during lunch time when most of the clients are the office employees from Motorola and Nokia. Their office is just one block away. At night, the science park is almost empty. Because of these limitations, the evening diners in the restaurant are those with private vehicles, thus middle and upper class clients.

The restaurant is clean and the service is very fast and courteous in the evenings.

The traffic jam is unbearable

For the past few months, I have been using the south and east 4th ring to get to and back from work. Today, I used the north 4th ring at 6pm and I spend 1.5 hours to get from ZhongGuanChun to the Bird Nest (national stadium). The distance is less than 7 km. If you do the math, you will know that the speed is about 5km/hour, slightly faster than walking.

I started off at the ShiJiQing qiao at the north west of the 4th ring at about 6pm.. The car came to a stand still in ZhongGuangChun along with thousands of other cars.. After 1.5 hours stop and go, I went pass the Birds Nest. All of a sudden, the traffic was smooth again as most of the vehicles exited to the Birth

Basketball Game in Beijing ChaoYang Park or Sun Park

I went to Chao Yang park to play basketball this afternoon. The ticket is 15RMB (including the park entrance fee) for unlimited play time. There were 7 basket ball courts and all were filled. Because the ChaoYang Park is close to the GuoMao CBD and on the side of the 4th ring, it has since become one of the most popular park in Beijing. With the addition of the Li-Ning sports park, it will surely attract more and more visitors and sports lovers.
The entrance ticket to the basket ball court to the ZhongXing sports park in GuangZhou is only 5RMB. ZhongXing sports park is also located in the CBC area.

Beijing NanYuan Airport

I came back from a business trip to GuangZhou. Instead of the Beijing international airport, I landed in the Nan Yuan airport. The Beijing international airport is located on the Northeast of the city and connected to the ring roads by the airport expresses way. The Nan Yuan airport however, is located on the south of the city only 15km from the

How Much Does a Model Make in One Day?

When I had dinner with a friend yesterday, I was told that the models in the 2008 Beijing Auto show could make as much as 10,000RMB/day.

What? My first reaction was: Are you kidding me? This is a ridiculous price to pay. I was thinking that some of the models may even do it for free if they are just started in modeling career. Beijing auto show attracts at least 200,000 people. That is 200,000 people look at the model. Another 10 million people will look at the model from the pictures posted online and on news paper. I would think that it is a perfect opportunity to show the world. Plus, the resume of a Mercedes Benz model in 2008 Beijing Auto show will open a lot of doors for future career development.

My educated guess is that an average car model will make around 500RMB/day. An international model (mostly are Russian) will make around 1,000RMBday. Nothing is close to 10,000RMB/day.

Whoes Car is this? California licensed car in the Beijing 798

I saw a California licensed car in the Beijing 798 (renowned art distinct in Beijing) today. It is an ISUZU SUV with 3.3 liter engine. The car is painted bright yellow, a perfect California car. The front wind shield displays a Chinese (Tian Jing) license plate, hard to verify if it is real.
It is known that China charges a hefty duty on imported new cars and does not allow imports of used cars. How did this car get into China? How is it driven in Beijing with a California license plate?
It just goes to show that in China today, any thing is possible.
